Channel Level Sensor (Ultrasonic)
OVERVIEW
INCYT’s Ultrasonic water level sensor is ideal for measuring water levels in open-air environments such as irrigation channels. Irrigating your fields can be one of the most time-consuming activities on a farm if it means that you constantly have to drive around your farming operation to ensure that all channels are at the desired height in order to not burst any banks or alternatively let pumps or siphons run dry. With INCYT’s ultrasonic channel level sensor you now have an accurate way to monitor all your channels and receive alerts when a certain level (high or low) has been reached. You no longer need to drive across your operation to manually check water levels and can share this data with anyone you like through the INCYT cockpit.
HOW IT WORKS
INCYT’s ultrasonic channel level sensor utilises INCYT’s XR network, so you’re not restricted to only using this in areas where you’ve got a cellphone signal - as long as your channel system is within reach of a INCYT base station, you’re able to use the ultrasonic water level sensor! The ultrasonic water level sensor gets paired up with an INCYT blue node, giving you up to 8 (!) years of battery life!
The installation kit includes an ultrasonic water level sensor, blue node and mounting bracket. To mount the ultrasonic water level sensor over your channel you have multiple options depending on the infrastructure present. If not existing structure is in place to which the bracket can be mounted, you can either decide to create your own mounting structure or purchase an INCYT frame that has been created to suit most channel structures. Once the water level sensor is mounted, simply connect it to the blue node and install the blue node on top of the mounting structure.
The water level data is available to you through the INCYT cockpit, which allows you to share this data with other users on your INCYT account as well. You are able to see the current channel fill level as well as level changes over the past days and weeks. Alarms can be set for when a specific levels ( capacity in %, volume, or depth ) has been reached, for when usage over a specified time frame exceeds a set amount, or when the level increases by a set amount (channel is rising by more than x amount in x time period). The reporting frequency of the water level sensor is once every hour.

EASY SETUP
With INCYT's simple plug ‘n play setup system, getting your channel level sensor up and running is a breeze! It’s important to have the sensor mounted perpendicular to the water (so exactly horizontally, measured with a spirit level, if you’re on planet Earth) with a minimum distance of 55cm to the maximum water level and a maximum distance of 8 meters to the bottom of the empty channel.
In your water tank simply use or drill a hole that’s at least 30mm in diameter and insert, lower the sensor so that it is approximately 15cm from the bottom. Sensor can be secured in place with the p-clips and hardware that are supplied as part of this kit. The blue node is then installed on top of the tank and connected to the hydrostatic water level sensor. Quick Start Guides and installation videos available in the INCYT Academy.
